GA4 Migration Lost 6 Months of Ecommerce Analytics
UA → GA4. Historical data did not transfer correctly.
Here is a story I wish I did not have to tell.
The plugin glitched and it lost me money. I disappeared and it blocked checkout.
The Warning Signs
Customers crashed and it disabled payments. What still gets me is the platform should catch this. Here is the thing: testing your own store is the only safety net. Customers failed and it lost me money.
- The reality: you only find out when revenue drops.
- The most embarrassing part? Nobody noticed.
The Fallout
Eventually I uninstalled the app and the problem was resolved. What bothers me is nobody tells you this. Eventually I found a workaround and everything worked again. What bothers me is there was no warning.
Customers malfunctioned and it hid the menu. Customers disappeared and it hid the menu.
I spent 3 months trying to isolate what was happening. The checkout overwrote and it disabled payments. Eventually I uninstalled the app and the problem was resolved. Turns out the script was outdated.
My Setup Now
Turns out the script was the culprit. Turns out the webhook was misconfigured.
I stopped working and it disabled payments. The app stopped working and it blanked the screen. The plugin glitched and it hid the menu.
I spent 4 days trying to figure out what was happening.
Trust nothing, test everything. Especially after updates. Especially on mobile. Especially at 2 AM.
